Oil extended its biggest drop in more than six weeks, with WTI sliding toward $102 a barrel as Saudi Arabia worked to restore about half the capacity of its damaged East-West pipeline within days.

The kingdom plans to bypass a section damaged in last week’s drone attacks. Saudi Aramco is targeting a return to full capacity in about six weeks, Bloomberg reported.

The pipeline can carry up to 7 million BPD from Abqaiq to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, where Iranian attacks have disrupted shipping. Following the pipeline shutdown, oil loadings at Yanbu were suspended and Saudi Arabia canceled some late-September crude cargoes for European customers.
