S&P Global Buys OpenZeppelin Firm Backing $37 Trillion In ValueSPGI

S&P Global expanded its digital asset risk tools on Wednesday by bringing OpenZeppelin into its corporate structure for an undisclosed price. The acquisition adds smart contract security capabilities to the ratings giant's portfolio, targeting a codebase that underpins $37 trillion in transferred value. This technology supports the majority of the world's largest stablecoins and tokenized funds, though OpenZeppelin will remain a standalone business unit.

The transaction follows S&P Global's lead role in a $110 million Series B top-up for Kaiko on Monday, marking two crypto deals in three days. The firm is incorporating onchain risk assessments and blockchain security to identify vulnerabilities in digital asset markets as part of a broader expansion into onchain technology.
