1 Cornell 7 Accuser Sent 'I Love You King' Texts Before Reporting Assault π Culture Sep 28, 11:06 AM EDT 108/39
ABC News obtained communication from four days after an October 19, 2024, fraternity incident in which the woman alleging a gang rape told one of the accused, "I love you king." In the texts, she suggested that while many would believe a woman is automatically the victim in a sexual scenario involving multiple men, she was personally open-minded about the experience. These messages were sent several weeks before she filed a formal police report.
The Tompkins County District Attorney recently reopened the criminal investigation into seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity after the victim filed a civil lawsuit in September 2026. The case features conflicting records, including a police transcript where the woman stated with "100% confidence" that she was raped, contrasted by claims from prosecutors that she initially described the encounters as consensual. New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Senator Chuck Schumer have since demanded a separate review of Cornell's internal handling of the allegations.
