The hacking group ShinyHunters announced it compromised internal Federal Bureau of Investigation systems to obtain sensitive data on almost all agents and job applicants. The group defaced the FBI Jobs landing page on September 22 and demanded the bureau remove a 2026 Quarter 2 FLASH report that detailed the group's alleged use of harassment and "swatting" tactics against victims.

The FBI is investigating unauthorized activity affecting its jobs website, though it has not confirmed the scale of the data breach. ShinyHunters claims to have stolen 2 to 3TB of information from HR, Criminal Justice, and Medlink services using an Oracle PeopleSoft zero-day vulnerability, providing a sample of 5,000 employee records as evidence. The group gave the FBI one week to remove the report.
