Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei said Tehran had given the US four to five days to meet its seven conditions and ruled out further negotiations until Washington accepts them. “Until Iran’s conditions are accepted, there will be no negotiations and the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened,” the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council told state television.

The demands include ending the US naval blockade, economic warfare and fighting on all fronts, releasing frozen or restricted Iranian assets, and accepting a safe shipping route through Hormuz agreed with Oman. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran conveyed its terms during about two hours of message exchanges through a Qatari mediator at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday. A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran was reviewing the US response to its proposal to end hostilities and that diplomacy continued despite differences between the two sides.

Rezaei also warned neighboring countries against helping Washington restrict Iranian aviation. “If neighboring countries go along with the United States in stopping Iranian flights, their airports won’t be able to work,” he said, without specifying what action Iran might take. Iranian airlines continued international flights on Wednesday despite a US deadline intended to ground their fleets by sanctioning companies that provide services to the carriers.
