President Donald Trump expressed openness to allowing Chinese cars into the United States during an upcoming meeting with President Xi Jinping. The discussion on Chinese automobile imports will be part of a wide range of topics covered when the two leaders meet soon, including US demands that China stop doing business with Iran.

Trump is not concerned that Xi will cancel the Sept 24 White House summit, despite reports from sources familiar with bilateral ties that China threatened to do so over potential US arms sales to Taiwan. Trump said China has treated the US fairly over recent years and expects the meeting to proceed as planned later this month.
