Negotiations are underway between Warsaw and Washington to secure a permanent U.S. military presence on the eastern flank of NATO. This proposed installation, known as Fort Trump, is projected to cost up to $4.4 billion and house 10,000 American troops with a potential opening date as early as 2029 according to newspaper Rzeczpospolita. U.S. and Polish officials are currently working to finalize the deal for the base's construction.

President Karol Nawrocki stated that Poland is paying for the stay of American personnel and its own security, calling the financial arrangement a good solution. Nawrocki expressed hope that the U.S. will soon finalize the plans so that Donald Trump can personally attend the site's inauguration, noting that the former president is known for keeping his word.
