Xi specifically called for a return of Iran and the US to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to settle the crisis, while opposing the use of military options or unilateral sanctions against Tehran.

The visit resulted in an 8 point consensus between the two leaders, with China voicing support for US demands that Iran maintain no nuclear weapons and no tolls on shipping. Foreign Minister Wang Yi described the meetings as a "new chapter" in bilateral relations. This diplomatic push follows efforts by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to revive the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with Beijing, an agreement that previously helped halt US military action against Iran.
