France Unveils €43B in Budget Savings for 2027

The French government is implementing pay freezes and new levies as part of a strategy to curb public spending. Finance Minister Lescure announced €43 billion in new measures for the 2027 budget, which brings the total fiscal adjustment to €54 billion when including prior initiatives. The consolidation is intended to lower the national budget deficit to 3% of GDP by 2029.

Budget Minister Amiel stated that fiscal action must be taken before the election next year to ensure economic stability. Lescure added that the transition toward budget consolidation by 2027 confirms the country's strong creditworthiness to international markets.
