Vice President JD Vance and CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz are blocking insurance coverage for hundreds of thousands of people who are suspected of improper enrollment in the government health program. The White House Antifraud Task Force is removing roughly 760,000 enrollees from the Affordable Care Act's public exchanges and initiating verification checks for another 419,000 individuals. CMS implemented a six month freeze on new broker registrations to stop the creation of fraudulent accounts.

The administration estimates the crackdown will save $2.2 billion by terminating subsidies for recipients who do not meet legal income or residency requirements. Investigators identified a fraud ring of 40 brokerage agents who enrolled 50,000 non-existent users to collect commissions. This effort targets enrollees who have never filed a claim or were improperly signed up through the exchange.
