House Passes Russia Sanctions Bill Allowing 100% Energy Tariffs for Trump↩︎

Lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives approved the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 in a 262-159 vote on Tuesday. The legislation grants the president authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on the top five buyers of Russian energy products and targets Russia's shadow fleet of tankers. It also extends the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 to maintain economic pressure on Tehran's energy and weapons sectors.

The measure now goes to President Donald Trump's desk for signature after clearing the Senate last month. The House vote finalized concurrence with the Senate’s amendments to H.R. 5334, providing the executive branch with new trade tools to counteract Moscow's oil and gas exports.
