Vice President JD Vance and CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz launched a sweeping antifraud campaign to strip health coverage from hundreds of thousands of ineligible users. The Trump administration removed about 760,000 people from the Affordable Care Act's public exchanges to save $2.2 billion in taxpayer funds, targeting enrollees who do not meet eligibility requirements or do not exist. CMS also banned all new agent and broker registrations for six months to prevent further fraudulent entries into the program.

Another 419,000 enrollees must now undergo additional verification of their legal U.S. residency and income to maintain coverage. The administration uncovered a fraud ring of 40 brokerage agents who funneled 50,000 fake people into the system. Oz noted that some regions in Florida showed enrollment numbers five times higher than the local population, while more than a third of plan holders in some segments had never filed a single insurance claim.
