1 CBS Sources Confirm Attack on Aramco's Riyadh Refinery Despite Saudi Denial ⚔️ War Oct 3, 2:43 AM EDT 114/53
Sources told CBS News that an attack occurred at Aramco's Riyadh refinery, while Saudi Arabia was still determining who was responsible. An AFP journalist watched firefighters battle flames at the refinery south of the Saudi capital on Saturday, adding to earlier witness reports of smoke and fire near the facility.
The account conflicts with Saudi coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki's dismissal of Houthi claims of an attack on Riyadh as “misleading.” Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said the group launched ballistic missiles and drones at Aramco in retaliation for Saudi strikes on Sanaa and other Yemeni provinces, claiming “the strikes were precise and direct, leading to fires breaking out at the targeted sites.”
EGYOSINT reported that Sentinel-2 imagery showed at least three oil storage tanks appearing to be on fire, while MenchOSINT reported that tanks burned from early morning into the evening. The refinery has capacity of 125,000 BPD and is not an export facility, energy analyst Tom Kloza said.
