Saudi Coalition Denies Houthi Attack on Riyadh as Fire Burns Near Aramco Site

Saudi coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki called Houthi claims of an attack on Riyadh on Saturday “misleading,” telling Asharq Al-Awsat that the group's losses had driven it to seek imaginary victories. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed ballistic missiles and drones targeted Aramco in the capital, saying “the strikes were precise and direct, leading to fires breaking out at the targeted sites.” He described the operation as retaliation for Saudi strikes on Sanaa and other Yemeni provinces.

Reuters and AFP witnesses observed flames and smoke near the Aramco facility. EGYOSINT reported that Sentinel-2 imagery showed at least three oil storage tanks appearing to be on fire, while MenchOSINT reported that tanks had burned from early morning into the evening. Those observations do not establish the cause, which Saudi authorities and Aramco had not confirmed.

PTV Breaking reported that flights in Riyadh were halted, and MenchOSINT reported repeated airspace disruptions late Saturday. Energy analyst Anas Alhajji rejected the attack reports, citing Al-Maliki's statement and writing: “For those seeking official statements on the ‘claimed’ attacks on Riyadh Saturday: news of the attacks is fake.”
