European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a new financial package for missiles and drones in Ukraine scheduled for release on September 18. The funding follows a phone call between von der Leyen and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to coordinate immediate military needs. The EU will disburse €3.3 billion to enhance aerial defense and strike capabilities.

The EU agreed last week to fund Patriot missile systems through a loan package for the country. Von der Leyen stated that the combined support remains insufficient to meet the demands of the conflict. This disbursement adds to a strategy of providing humanitarian aid and strengthening energy infrastructure before winter.
