Poland Warns Russian "Accidental" Strikes May Target NATO To Paralyze Collective Defense

Prime Minister Donald Tusk told parliament that Russian intelligence assesses a real risk of drones or missiles entering the territory of NATO countries on the eastern flank. These potential strikes, which Tusk described as "accidental," are intended to paralyze or weaken the alliance's willingness to invoke collective defense provisions in response to an attack on a member state.

The Polish leader stated that Russia plans to intensify attacks on Ukraine near Poland's border and has little interest in serious negotiations before the end of winter. Tusk cited figures from Ukrainian partners showing monthly losses of about 27,000 killed and wounded, which he noted represent the highest casualty levels recorded in the war.
