Geran-4 jet-drones struck four commercial vessels on Oct. 3, targeting ships in the western Black Sea, the port of Chornomorsk in Odesa Oblast, and the Buh River Estuary. The vessel hit in the Buh River Estuary had been stationary since 2022, according to maritime mapping reports. These attacks targeted shipping lanes and port infrastructure in the western Black Sea region.

The strikes follow a wave on Oct. 1 where Russia hit four additional dry cargo ships and a logistics center in Kyiv. Ukraine's Finance Ministry estimates that combined Russian attacks on ports and supporting infrastructure could cause export losses of up to $4.8B by the end of the year.
