Moldovan border patrols spotted unidentified aircraft near Căplani around 04:00 on Sept. 19 during overnight Russian attacks on Ukraine. These incursions involved a total of 4 drones, including two moving toward Olănești–Cistovodnoe and one entering from Crocmaz. Ukraine later notified Moldova that an object crashed and ignited approximately 1.5 to 2 km from the border near Troițcoe.

A joint search by Moldovan and Ukrainian forces located an explosion site and debris 1.2 km inside Ukraine, though Moldovan authorities confirmed no fragments were found on its own soil. The breach occurred one day after a drone was confirmed to have exploded near Colonița on Sept. 18, with engine fragments discovered in a field 10 km from the capital, Chișinău.
