1 Additional Fires Detected at Aramco Riyadh Refinery Amid Reports of New Attack ⚔️ War Oct 3, 2:43 AM EDT 111/52
Additional fires were detected at Saudi Aramco’s Riyadh refinery at 16:35 UTC on Saturday, MenchOSINT reported, following a local report of a ballistic missile launch from Yemen and disruption over Riyadh’s airspace around 16:20 UTC. The account cited NASA FIRMS satellite data and said fuel storage tanks had been burning from early morning into the evening. The observations did not establish whether another attack had occurred.
Saudi air defenses reportedly activated over Riyadh amid a new Yemeni attack, ME Observer reported later, adding that firefighting teams were working at the Aramco site. The outlet also cited Reuters as reporting that Saudi Arabia was preparing a large ground offensive against the Houthis in Yemen in the coming weeks.
The Houthis earlier claimed they had targeted Aramco in Riyadh with ballistic missiles and drones in retaliation for 60 Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks over the previous 24 hours. Reuters and AFP witnesses observed fire and smoke near the oil facility, but Saudi authorities and Aramco had not confirmed the cause or damage. The refinery has capacity of about 125,000 BPD and is not an export refinery, oil analyst Tom Kloza said.
