Footage released on Sunday by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps shows a US Navy submersible it intercepted in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian specialists are now working to retrieve sonar data, search patterns, and navigation settings from the REMUS 600 autonomous underwater vehicle, which the IRGC claims was seized fully intact during a coordinated electronic warfare operation.

The capture is the second unmanned submersible Iran has taken this month, following the seizure of an Anduril Dive-LD earlier in September. The IRGC has declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to unauthorized traffic and is acting against dangerous movements in the area, though Washington has yet to confirm the loss of the REMUS 600. US officials previously denied an interception of the Dive-LD, stating it had malfunctioned.
