Plumes of black smoke rose over the Ukrainian capital on Sept. 28 after a Russian drone struck a building housing a medical center in central Kyiv. Theattack followed an earlier strike on the National Academy of Sciences by a Geran-5 drone, which killed at least one civilian and forced people to jump from windows to escape flames. President Volodymyr Zelensky described the targets—which also included a pharmaceutical company, gas stations in Kyiv, and a business center in Dnipro—as acts of terror and stated that Russia would face a response.
