A residential building in the Ukrainian capital was struck during a wide-ranging aerial assault on Friday morning, resulting in a fatality. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that more than 100 attack drones were launched against Ukraine overnight, including nearly 50 jet-powered models, hitting targets in Kyiv as well as the Odesa, Dnipro, and Kharkiv regions. In the capital, Russian "Shahed" drones struck the Pivdennyi Bridge several times, causing damage to the roadway and support structures.

The assault left the Pivdennyi and Paton bridges fully closed in both directions and partially shut the Metro Bridge, forcing officials to reroute transit through the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi links. The strikes utilized Geran-5 drones equipped with cumulative warheads designed to penetrate bridge supports, marking the first time major Kyiv bridges were targeted since the conflict began. Zelenskyy called for stronger sanctions on companies in the U.S., China, and Europe that provide the components used in these munitions.
