The Russian military has launched a sustained wave of daytime assaults against civilian targets in the Ukrainian capital, wounding 19 people and hospitalizing 6 in the most recent barrage. The Kremlin stated these strikes on the city's historic center are reactions to Ukrainian raids on Wildberries warehouses and oil and gas infrastructure. Residents report that Kyiv has endured uninterrupted aerial attacks for over a week, with recent strikes by jet powered drones hitting the National Academy of Sciences, a pharmaceutical company and several gas stations.

A direct strike on the Academy of Sciences building killed 1 person and injured 6 others, including 3 children, sparking a fire that destroyed half the structure and forced staff to escape through windows. Among the wounded was Volodymyr Gorbulin, an 87 year old political scientist and lead architect of the national missile program and defense strategy. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for total global pressure on the entities that finance and produce Russian weaponry to prevent further civilian casualties.
