Russia struck the CHP-5, CHP-6 and Trypillya thermal power plants during an overnight barrage of at least 18 ballistic and supersonic cruise missiles aimed at Kyiv and the surrounding region, AMK Mapping reported. Large fires broke out at the plants after the strikes.

The attack included Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and Oniks cruise missiles, while Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet drones also attacked the power plants and other sites across Kyiv, AMK Mapping reported. Parts of the capital lost electricity, and residential areas were also hit.

The barrage followed Monday’s drone attacks on Kyiv, which killed two people and injured 26. Those strikes hit Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences and the Dobrobut medical center, setting both buildings ablaze. People escaped the academy through windows as rescuers responded.
