Russian missile strikes on Kyiv killed two people and injured at least eight overnight, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported, with residential buildings, a maternity hospital and energy facilities damaged. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the ballistic attack began as he met US lawmakers to discuss tougher sanctions and missile interceptors. Emergency crews were working to rescue people trapped in a building.

Kyiv had endured three waves of ballistic attacks by the time Zelensky met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. They discussed supplies of Patriot interceptors and a winter support package. “But against ballistic missiles, for now, the only effective option is Patriot interceptors, which we need practically every day,” Zelensky said. He also urged sanctions against Russia and those helping it earn money.

Elsewhere, a Russian strike on an agricultural farm in Stara Hnylytsia in the Kharkiv region killed six workers and injured 12 others. An overnight attack on Odesa damaged a medical facility, 10 residential buildings and a school, municipal authorities said, with no casualties reported.
