1 Russia's Energy Grid Attacks Kill 7 and Force Power Cuts ⚔️ War Sep 30, 1:40 AM EDT 25/16
The Ukrainian power operator has curtailed electricity supplies to multiple regions after Russian missile and drone strikes damaged the nation's transmission network. At least 7 people were killed in the assault, which included strikes by Zircon hypersonic and Oniks supersonic cruise missiles on the Trypillya Thermal Power Plant in the Kyiv region. Field reports indicate that 40 of the launched missiles hit their targets, leaving residential buildings, warehouses, and a grocery supermarket in Ivankovychi in ruins.
The attacks on September 29 and 30 involved a combined wave of approximately 473 drones and various ballistic missiles targeting utility hubs in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, and Rivne. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the raids are part of a Moscow campaign to degrade Ukraine's energy security before the 2026-2027 winter heating season. Emergency crews remain on site to restore water and power supplies to affected areas.
