A suspected projectile struck a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of September 28, triggering an onboard fire north of Khasab, Oman. The ship is now underway and its crew is safe, according to a time-late advisory issued by the UK Maritime Trade Operations on September 29, which confirmed the blaze has been extinguished.

Ambrey Intelligence reported that the targeted ship was an oil tanker transiting the US-backed southern Omani corridor under US escort at the time of the strike. The attack followed a series of anti-ship cruise missile and drone launches from Iran's Qeshm Island. Satellite imagery from the VIIRS Day/Night Band later identified a bright spot approximately 31.5 km east of Khasab, corresponding to the fire on the vessel.
