1 Yemen Army Claims 1,500 Houthi Casualties After First Riyadh Strike in 4 Years ⚔️ War Oct 3, 2:43 AM EDT 78/39
The Al-Sabeen Maternity and Childhood Hospital in Sana'a sustained severe damage following a wave of retaliatory airstrikes conducted by Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Yemen's Health Ministry described the attack on the hospital as a flagrant violation of international law, while at least five explosions were heard throughout the Houthi-held capital. Separately, the Yemeni army reported more than 1,500 Houthi casualties resulting from a combined campaign of missile, drone, and artillery strikes on opposition positions.
The escalation follows a Houthi ballistic missile attack on a Saudi Aramco refinery in Riyadh, the first such hit on a capital facility in more than four years. Sentinel-2 satellite imagery shows at least three oil storage tanks on fire at the 125,000 b/d facility, though Aramco and Saudi authorities have not confirmed the cause of the fire. The hostilities coincided with reported Israeli bombings in southern Lebanon towns Aitaroun and Tallousa.
