Israeli authorities are treating the diversion of Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv as a suspected terrorist attack following security assessments and passenger testimony, N12 reported. The co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain repeatedly before crew members and passengers forced their way into the cockpit and subdued him, the broadcaster said.

The co-pilot is being questioned, and investigators increasingly suspect he intended to seize control of the aircraft and crash it with passengers aboard, a senior Israeli official told N12. The assessment follows an earlier Channel 14 report that authorities suspected one pilot had attempted suicide by sending the aircraft into a dive before the other intervened.

The aircraft landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, on Sept. 30, and all passengers are safe and accounted for, Flydubai confirmed. Passengers remained aboard awaiting a replacement aircraft, N12's Amit Segal reported. The airline will send another plane to take them to Israel, its CEO told Israeli transport officials. Israel had scrambled fighter jets after the flight transmitted emergency and unlawful interference signals.
