Parents of foreign students with serious school-integration problems must learn Italian under new education laws proposed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The measures include a ban on the burqa and niqab in classrooms and a legal cap on the number of foreign students permitted per class. Meloni announced the plan during a youth event organized by her party to address concerns over national identity and integration.

The policy seeks to prevent classrooms from reaching a point where Italian children feel like a minority or foreign students face marginalization. Meloni stated that having too many students who do not understand the language constitutes abandonment rather than integration. She emphasized that any individual who comes to Italy to build a future must learn the national language and respect domestic rules.
