Municipal crews in the Thai capital are operating canal pumps to remove water from submerged roadways following a period of extreme weather. City officials have increased drainage operations to clear the streets of Bangkok, where water levels have begun to drop after overwhelming the local infrastructure.

The flooding prompted authorities to designate all 50 of the city's districts as disaster zones after nearly 300mm, or 12 inches, of rain fell over 48 hours. At least one person died from electrocution while wading through the water, which submerged major thoroughfares and forced residents to move vehicles to higher ground and stock up on emergency supplies.
