Nearly 4,900 people have been moved into emergency shelters across Thailand's capital as officials work to restore order after a series of rainstorms. The deluge has entered Day 4, and though water levels have begun to drop, ongoing thunderstorms continue to threaten the region with further disruption. The flooding prompted the government to declare a state of disaster across all 50 of the city's districts.

Approximately 52,000 households were affected by the rains, which brought nearly 300mm of precipitation within a 48 hour period and forced the closure of 24 main roads. One person died from electrocution while wading through floodwater that overwhelmed the city's canal and drainage systems. More than 10,000 troops were deployed to lead evacuation efforts, and pumping stations remain active to drain submerged streets and residential areas.
