The National Hurricane Center reports that a massive cyclone is currently tracking west-northwestward toward the Pacific coast of North America. Hurricane Polo is forecast to make landfall in Baja California Sur on Monday as a powerful storm, while residents of Los Angeles are bracing for coastal flooding, erosion, and high surf.

Polo is one of the most powerful Pacific cyclones in decades and the third Category 5 hurricane of the current storm season. The system has already forced the closure of ports and the suspension of school classes along Mexico's southwestern coast, including the state of Colima, where it brought crashing waves and sudden downpours.
