Three sisters and their children were among the immediate relatives of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan taken into custody by Pakistani police on Monday. Aleema Khan was placed under a 30 day detention order under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance, while other family members were removed from their homes in armored vehicles and transported to unknown locations.

This crackdown precedes a nationwide protest and a planned PTI Long March to Islamabad on September 27. Imran Khan has been held in prison since 2023 and is currently in solitary confinement, with party sources stating that every member of his immediate family remaining in Pakistan has now been detained.
