Explosions struck the surface of a key city crossing on Thursday while a metro train was passing, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. The late afternoon impact hit the roadway of the Pivdennyi Bridge, marking the second time the structure was targeted on Oct 1. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene to assess damage as the assault continued throughout the day.

The attacks began in the morning with 2 drone strikes on the bridge's supporting pillars, which smashed windows in a passing metro carriage. Municipal specialists from Kyivavtoshliakhmist are currently inspecting the structure, and authorities have suspended all metro and surface transport across the span. This operation is the 1st time a major bridge in the capital has been hit since the start of the conflict, with reports indicating the potential use of Geran-4 or Geran-5 drones.
