1 Russian Drones Strike Kyiv South Bridge First Time Since War Began ⚔️ War Oct 1, 5:31 AM EDT 12/11
Kyiv authorities halted all public transport on the city's southern river crossing Thursday following two aerial impacts. Drones struck the supporting pillars of the Pivdennyi Bridge, causing officials to suspend both metro and surface transit while structural specialists inspect the crossing for instability. A Shahed drone hit the bridge as a metro train was traversing it, smashing carriage windows and leaving debris across the site.
The operation marks the first time since the start of the conflict that a major bridge in the capital has been targeted, according to Agence France-Presse. Russia is escalating attacks on critical infrastructure as winter approaches, and some reports indicate the use of Geran-4 drones, which feature larger warheads specifically designed to dismantle bridges and high-voltage power lines.
