City officials have blocked all public transit on the Pivdennyi Bridge on Oct 1 to allow for urgent structural assessments of the river crossing. Municipal engineers are currently examining the bridge's supporting pillars for damage after an aerial assault sparked fires and left drone debris across the area.

The attack, involving two Russian drones, including Shahed and Geran-4 models, shattered the windows of a metro train while it was traversing the bridge. The South Bridge serves as a primary transport conduit over the Dnipro river, connecting the right and left banks of the Ukrainian capital.
